Youth Programs |
Last year alone, Fort Bend Regional Council’s specially trained counselors reached thousands of kids in over 50 schools within Fort Bend, Lamar Consolidated and Stafford School Districts. Our counselors provide research based programs with the goal of building resiliency in our young people and enabling them to grow into successful, productive adults.
It is Fort Bend Regional Council’s goal to have emotionally healthy kids from a young age. Our specially trained elementary school counselors work and develop relationships with students in grades 3 through 5. Each week the kids learn new and important skills that range from positive self-esteem and decision making to being assertive and communicating their thoughts and feelings.

As students grow and mature, FBRC has the privilege of being an anchor in their development along with families and schools. In middle and high school classrooms, our counselors build upon the foundations laid for students by our elementary team. They help them understand the nature of and dangers associated with drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Counselors also assist students in identifying other troubles they face as adolescents such as peer pressure, stress, emotions, communication and adversity. Many of these programs happen outside the classroom in either small group or one-on-one settings so students can feel comfortable expressing their needs and concerns. We want kids in our community to have positive goals, make good decisions and lead fruitful lives.

Intensive Intervention Program for Youth |
|
This 10-week program incorporates topics specific to youth (under the age of 18) and families who are experiencing home, school or legal problems related to alcohol, tobacco or other drugs. This in-depth series involves the family in an environment designed to promote healthy decision-making for youth and assist parents in more effectively addressing issues with their children. The program meets once a week for 10 weeks for one three hour session. Because this is an intensive program, participants must be accompanied by at least one parent. The entire family is encouraged to attend.
