Red Ribbon Week

October

Red Ribbon Week began after the 1985 murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena at the hands of several drug cartels. Officially recognized nationally in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan, Red Ribbon Week is the largest and most visible prevention awareness campaign in the United States. FBRC’s Youth Prevention Counselors celebrate the campaign with a traveling, drug-free puppet show shared with more than 5,000 elementary school students each October.
